Arnie started racing at tracks in the Chicagoland Area like Soldiers Field, Manace Park, Ohare Stadium, Meadowdale Raceway, Harvard Speedway, Mazon Speedbowl and Aurora Downs none of these tracks are any longer there or in use. The majority are just left in our memories or like Soldiers Field which now only has football games. But back in the day these tracks were where many great midwest drivers started their impressive careers as Arnie did.
Arnie and Bob Novy from New Lenox, Illinois Teamed up to win many races throughout the Midwest, Bob was also a Firefighter reaching the Captains rank. Bob also a driver and knew a chassis inside and out. With his midget background together they were a force to reckon with.
In 1960 thanks to Harry W. Kuhn, a concrete materials company from Glen Ellen, Illinois Arnie was able to run 4 Nascar Winston Cup races, before becoming sick with an illness he had from childhood. He was sidelined for almost a year recoving.
John Fortman teamed with Arnie sponsored by Lou's Jeep, Geneva, Illinois and others " The Geneva Fox" became a household name along with John Fortman and Associates with their numerous wins. Both Arnie and John were born in Geneva, Illinois and were both life long residents.
